WORSHIP AND RITUAL

The Ritual Committee shares the responsibility with our Rabbi of conducting and interpreting our Jewish way of life. Shabbat services are conducted at 8:00 p.m., each Friday and, except for the summer months, each Saturday at 10:30 am.  Family services which encourage the participation of our younger children are conducted one Friday each month at 7:30 p.m. Services are also conducted for the Holy Days and Festivals of the Jewish year. The use of a kippa and tallit is optional. The steps needed to educate our children for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah are clearly defined, and students are encouraged to continue their education through Confirmation. Our worship is a blend of Hebrew and English, and the full participation of the congregation is encouraged. Services are conducted from Gates of Prayer and Gates of Repentance. These Prayer Books of Reform Judaism blend modern language with the warm spirit of our tradition.

PROGRAMMING

The Temple Bat Yam Program Committee is a vital arm of our congregation. Our programs have been entertaining, inspiring, educational and diversified. We have held art auctions, Jazz nights featuring our own "Few Jews Blue Band," Ballroom Dance lessons, a night out at the theater, several interesting Havdalah programs, a teen dance and family picnics. Each year we tailor our programs to congregational needs, and pride ourselves in bringing enthusiasm to our community.
