Youth Group
BYFTY (Bat Yam Federation of Temple Youth), Temple Bat Yam’s youth group, is open to eighth-graders through seniors in high school who want to meet other Jewish teens and make a difference in the community.
Members lead the family High Holiday services, organize a High Holiday canned food drive, help build and decorate the Temple’s Sukkah, bake challah and matzah balls for the annual Empty Bowls dinner and much more. Community outreach includes building teddy bears for Jewish Adoption and Foster Care Options (JAFCO) and decorating gift bags for local hospitals.
As an affiliate of the Southeast region of NYFTY (National Federation of Temple Youth), Reform Judaism’s national youth movement, Temple Bat Yam’s BYFTY chapter offers teens in ninth grade and above the opportunity to attend conventions at the regional level with other Southern chapters.
